Legalese, Nerf Guns, and Thai Food

The GrowLab Cohort finished up this week with Michael Dunleavy from Labarge Weinstein hosting a dinner for our cohort to discuss a variety of legal topics. A casual info session over Thai food and beers covered everything from company due diligence to stock options, tax optimization and exit planning. The session was a phenomenal primer for our founders as their business grows.

Michael was a great speaker and anchored all of the legal jargon to real life war stories. The highlight was certainly the success story he told us about a couple that founded/invented the top selling ‘adult toy’ on the market! Who say being a lawyer is boring!

Michael left the Cohort with a “Startup Survival Kit“which included coffee cards, usb keys, Redbull, tide to go pens (cause you know you’re going to spill something on your shirt right before your big pitch), and a bevy of munchies and snacks. The survival kits also included a nerf dart gun that the BlueBat team used to decide their milestone dates, firing darts at a calendar… innovation at its best!
