Boris Wertz is an Internet entrepreneur, investor and the founder of Version One Ventures, a Vancouver-based angel fund that has made over 20 investments in early-stage Consumer Internet companies. He is also a venture partner with Munich-based Acton Capital, a large late-stage Consumer internet fund.
Previously, Boris was the Chief Operating Officer of AbeBooks.com, the world’s largest marketplace for books, which sold to Amazon in 2008. Boris joined AbeBooks in 2002 after the company acquired JustBooks, which he co-founded in 1999. He successfully finished his PhD as well as his graduatestudies at the Otto Beisheim School of Management (WHU), Koblenz, with a major in Business Economics/Business Management.
Boris was named the Pacific Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner in 2005, and a Top 40 under 40 nominee by Business in Vancouver in 2011. He serves among others on the boards of Suite101, Fitbrains, Yapta.com, Indochino, Techvibes, the Bootup Entrepreneurial Society and DigiBC. Additional key investments include Flurry, Tynt, and Chloe & Isabel.
